Use the room to describe the sighting
Say whether the insect appeared at a sink, beside a dishwasher, or in a bathroom cabinet. Note the time of day and whether several sizes have been seen. A safely taken photograph may help distinguish a cockroach from another insect, but a quick glimpse does not establish the species. Do not reach into electrical or plumbing gaps to collect evidence or pull heavy equipment away alone.
Building connections matter without proving a source
Pipe openings, shared walls, and common storage can be relevant to an assessment. Mention them while keeping the difference between a known sighting and a suspected route clear. If you rent, explain who manages the building and can authorize access. Food storage, water leaks, and undisturbed spaces in your own unit also deserve attention; no single building detail explains every cockroach concern.
Coordinate preparation rather than improvising it
Ask for instructions covering the affected cabinets, food and dishes, pets, and room access. Explain any spray, bait, or fogger already used, since treatment history can change the discussion. Confirm whether monitoring and subsequent visits are included and what should be reported afterward. In a shared property, clarify who receives instructions so belongings are not moved from one unit to another on a guess.
